Microsoft Game Studios (MGS), at one time a Microsoft Game Section, occurs as completely-owned subsidiary of Microsoft Corp. which develops and publishes video games for Windows-based PCs and the Xbox video game console. MGS publishes games for many Microsoft-owned first-party developers, including Bungie Studios and Rare Ltd.. MGS too publishes games created by third-party developers, such as Climax Studios and Big Huge Games.

Within August 2002, MGS acquired Rare from either Nintendo & a Stamper brothers, who owned 49% & 51% of the company severally. Since that period, it has been rumored that Microsoft is trying to get Japanese punt development corporations. A cause given is that it would aid a babies break into that notoriously fickle market in which American games come rarely successful, & in which the Xbox overall has done super ill up to now.
